There are electric and gas versions of central heating, both of which provide different benefits. Many people opt for the electric option in their homes as they do not have the correct pipes installed for the gas to flow through and wish to save the cost of getting them. Gas central heating uses a mains gas supply, which is cheaper to run than electricity, which often makes it a more popular choice when possible.
Another benefit of a gas central heating system is its ability to still run if the power goes out. The gas supply is not disrupted in the event of lost power, and the system won’t flip the electric breaker. Interestingly enough, electric heating is more likely to cause a fire than a gas system.
